DECA

Bellevue College's DECA team was formed in 2014, when Kyle Barber, the Marketing Program Chair and Collegiate DECA Director, started teaching.

Initially, DECA started with ten students, but it has grown into 200 members and recruits per year. Our team has had national champions every year since we formed and is the top-ranked collegiate DECA school in the country. Throughout the years that DECA has been active in Bellevue College, we've had 15 assistant coaches, both faculty and alumni and 987 people who have participated in the team in some way.

As a national champion team, we have competed in Austin, Orlando, Washington DC, and Los Angeles. We also organize annual trips for our team to visit marketing agencies and other businesses so members can get a better idea of the field while visiting someplace new--we have been to Boston, Chicago, New York, and Tokyo!

By joining our DECA team, you can develop your business, marketing, leadership, and communications skills through coaching and tournaments.

Speech

More recently, our team has broadened to include the Speech team in our academic and extracurricular activities.  Both teams participate in leadership activities and intercollegiate competitions throughout the country.  We are very proud to have over 100 students participating in unprepared and prepared competition from a wide range of majors.

By joining our Speech team, you can develop your public speaking, confidence, and presentation skills in coaching sessions and tournaments. Additionally, it gives students a sense of community and builds on their interpersonal communication.
